This guide will help you through the steps required to update your version of FieldLink to a newer one.
You will require the tablet to have sufficient charge/be plugged in and to be connected to the internet on the tablet you are updating.
Please also ensure FieldLink is closed and not running before you start these steps.
- Open Trimble Installation Manager, this will typically be on the desktop of the tablet. You may also find it in the taskbar.
The icon will look like the below:
If you are prompted to allow the app to make changes to your device, select Yes.
There may be updates to Trimble Installation Manager if you haven't opened it in some time, please proceed with these if they are available.
- Once Trimble Installation Manager is open, starting from the far left of the window - Select Controller, then FieldLink as per below:
- With FieldLink selected, the next step is to use the dropdown in the top right of the window to select the version to install. Generally it is advised to be on the most recent version possible for the best experience.
Note: If your latest release is stuck at an older release than what is currently available (Note the month and year beside the version numbers) then you may be out of maintenance. Please contact your local BuildingPoint Australia Account Manager to discuss renewing this.
- FieldLink will be selected by default in the checkbox to the left of the list, make sure to also select the user guide and release notes.
Generally the Coordinate System manager is GNSS specific, and the RPT600 Firmware tool is only required if you are operating with an RPT600 instrument.
There is no harm done if you accidentally install these without requiring them.
- Next click Install in the bottom right, and let the installer progress.
- Once installation is complete, please use windows to fully restart your tablet before re-opening FieldLink.
You may need to update your device Firmware, if you have an X7 you can follow a guide on this here
