Australian Payday Super and other Legislative Updates

Read on for more information on Payday Super with Jobpac, as well as some updates on QLD PTA Certification and PTRS by Andrew Tucker, Trimble Product Manager

Preparing for Payday Super: A Roadmap for Jobpac Users

The landscape of Australian payroll is shifting. As you may have heard, the Australian Government is introducing Payday Super legislation. Starting 1 July 2026, employers will be required to pay Superannuation Guarantee (SG) contributions on the same day they pay salary and wages.

For payroll professionals, this is a reform that moves us away from the traditional quarterly cycle to a real-time environment.

What’s Changing in Jobpac Connect?

As part of this reform, payroll software must be capable of capturing and reporting QE (Qualifying Earnings) in every Single Touch Payroll (STP) submission.

  • The Deadline: Payroll software must be compliant with STP QE submissions by 30 June 2026, ready for FY27 STP Reporting.
  • The Jobpac Roadmap: Work has already commenced on the Jobpac STP changes required to capture QE. We will be pushing Jobpac’s STP changes through the ATO’s rigorous test scenarios to achieve certification prior to release.
  • The Transition Period: While the legislative deadline for software providers is mid-2026, Jobpac customers will have one further year (until 30 June 2027) to configure, test, and verify that QE submissions are 100% accurate, according to the ATO.

Streamlining Payments with SAFF & OZEDI

Did you know Jobpac Payroll already supports SAFF (SuperStream Alternative File Format) for streamlined upload to Super clearing houses?

What is a SAFF file? It is a specifically formatted CSV or Excel file used to report and pay super contributions in compliance with SuperStream standards. It acts as a secure intermediary file that you upload to your clearing house.

A New Solution: OZEDI Instant Super

We are working closely with OZEDI, our trusted STP Sending Service and PEPPOL gateway provider, to offer an even more robust solution.

Did you know that OZEDI has launched an Instant Super Clearing House facility specifically designed for the Payday Super era?

Why consider OZEDI?

  • Easy Integration: You can integrate today using the standard Jobpac SAFF file output.
  • Instant Confirmation: you will receive instant confirmation when the fund receives the payment.
  • Security: Data is encrypted from creation to completion.
  • Future-Proofing: We are currently investigating deeper API integrations with OZEDI, including the Fund Validation Service (FVS) and the Membership Verification Request (MVR). These will allow you to validate fund and member details seamlessly within Jobpac before you even hit “pay.” Note these verification services will not be available until after the July 1st and we will keep you updated with plans in this direction.

Important Note: The Closure of SBSCH

If you are a small business currently using the ATO’s Small Business Superannuation Clearing House (SBSCH), please be aware that it will be permanently closed on 1 July 2026.

The SBSCH will not support the high-frequency requirements of Payday Super. We recommend that all SBSCH users begin investigating an alternative clearing house (like the OZEDI facility mentioned above) prior to the end of the 2025/26 financial year to avoid any disruption in payments.

QLD QBCC PTA Certification

For Jobpac customers building in QLD, you will be pleased to know that Jobpac has commenced the QBCC PTA Certification process. We have identified 3 modifications to the report formats we need to make to achieve full certification. Development is underway, and we are looking forward to bringing you a fully compliant solution for QLD PTAs in the very near future. Note that the QBCC continues to take an educational approach to audits, recognising the time it takes for more Digital Service Providers (DSPs) to come up to speed.

In addition, our development to generate ABA EFT transfer files directly from Trust Journals is progressing well, having just reached the QA phase. We will keep you updated as we draw nearer to the release of this new feature.

PTRS Updates

For large Jobpac customers subject to PTRS, we are working on some enhancements to further streamline your reporting compliance using Jobpac. Of note will be two changes. The first allows consolidation of the extracted PTRS data set across Work IDs. Other changes include additional Subcontract Agreement and RCTI data to show on the dataset, with Payment date calculations updated when RCTIs are used. We will keep you updated as we draw nearer to the release of these new features.
