How to Apply Credit Notes to Invoices

Reverse an invoice with a credit note, then clear both in a single pay run for a zero payment.

Overview

Applying a credit note to an invoice reverses the invoice's value. When you select both the invoice and its credit note in the next pay run, Jobpac calculates a zero payment to the creditor and marks both transactions as paid.

Apply the credit note

Enter the credit note, then clear it against the invoice in a pay run. For the full entry process, see the Knowledge Base article How do I Enter Credit Notes.

1. Enter a credit note using the same procedure as a standard invoice, and select Credit Note as the transaction type. Enter the same transaction number as the invoice it applies to.

Tip: You don't need to enter the amount as a negative — Jobpac applies the sign automatically. Enter it exactly as you would for the invoice.

2. In the next pay run for this creditor, include both the invoice and the credit note.

Note: Together, the two transactions produce a zero payment to the creditor, and both are marked as paid.
