This guide will cover some potential WiFi troubleshooting steps that commonly resolve issues connecting to your Trimble Ri across a WiFi connection;
- Ensure your FieldLink version is the latest available, and confirm your Ri is on the best matching firmware for that FieldLink version - You can find a guide on this here: Trimble Ri - Firmware Installation & Compatability
- Ensure no pending windows updates on the tablet, and restart both tablet and Ri.
- Connect your tablet to the internet via WiFi or phone hotspot before opening FieldLink, to ensure login/licensing current.
- With the Ri on, press and hold the power button for approx. 20seconds - You will hear several sets of beeping during this process. This will reset the Ri fully.
- If you can manage to connect even if only temporarily or in certain environments, use the Device -> Settings menu to switch from Auto band to 2.4GHz as this can sometimes encounter less interference and give better signal penetration.
- If unable to connect to your instrument, but can see the Ri generated network within windows wifi settings and you are on Windows11, follow the below steps:
1. Shut down FieldLink.
2. In Windows, open Settings -> Privacy & security -> Location.
3. Enable the following options:
- Location services
- Let apps access your location
- Let desktop apps access your location
4. Restart FieldLink.
