Update tax tables at the start of each financial year to ensure payroll calculations remain accurate and compliant.
Important: It is the responsibility of each customer to review and update tax tables before the first payroll run of the new financial year.
Before you begin
- Download the latest tax schedules from the ATO
โ View ATO Tax Tables (Schedules 1, 5, 8, 9) - Review child support protected earnings amounts
โ Service Australia โ Protected Earnings Amount - Confirm the Effective From date is correct
Step 1 โ Update standard tax scales
- Go to Payroll > Company Information > Tax Levels
- Update Scales 1, 2, 3, and 5 using ATO Schedule 1 (NAT 1004)
- Ensure:
- Withholding limits are correct
- Child support weekly amounts are updated
Step 2 โ Update additional tax rates
- Update Scale 6 (Schedule 1)
- Update Working Holiday Maker rates (Schedule 15)
- Open the Other Weekly Earnings tab to apply changes
Note: Leave SFSS tax tables blank. These are now included in HELP rates.
Step 3 โ Update HELP / STSL rates
- Go to Tax Levels โ HELP Rates tab
- Enter values from Schedule 8 (NAT 3539)
- Click OK to save
Step 4 โ Update seniors rates
Seniors without Medicare (NAT 4466)
- Go to Payroll > Company Information > Tax Levels
- Select Seniors Rates without Medicare tab
- Update the tax table using ATO schedule values
- Click OK to save
Seniors with Medicare (NAT 4466)
- Go to Payroll > Company Information > Tax Levels
- Select Seniors Rates with Medicare tab
- Update the tax table using ATO schedule values
- Click OK to save changes
โ Completed when
- All tax scales are updated
- HELP/STSL rates have been applied
- Seniors rates are updated
- Effective date is correct
- All changes have been saved
