Technical Structure, Menus and Licensing in Jobpac

Jobpac uses a combination of user IDs, menu structures and licensing models to control how people access the system. Understanding this structure helps you set up users correctly and keep access aligned with your organisation’s roles and licence agreements.

How Jobpac access works

Every person who uses Jobpac is given a USERID and password. These credentials are used to sign in to the system and act as the starting point for all security and access control.

Once a user is created, their access is driven by two main elements:

  • Menu structure – which modules and options they can see.
  • Security level – which specific menu items within those modules they can access.

Menu structures and role-based access

A menu structure is a predefined set of modules and functions that you assign to a USERID. Each menu structure has a code (for example, J9) and contains options such as project modules, finance modules and payroll.

Menu conceptDescription
Menu code (e.g. J9)The overall menu structure assigned to a user. It determines which major modules they can see.
Module options (e.g. OPT1, OPT2)High-level groupings inside a menu code. For example, OPT1 may be Business Forecasting, OPT2 Finance, OPT3 Projects, OPT5 Payroll.
Security levelEach menu item can be given a security level. A user only sees that option if their own security level is equal to or greater than the menu item’s level.

Designing menus by role

You can create different menu structures for different roles to keep access focused and secure. For example:

  • Project staff – may have access only to project-related modules (for example, Business Forecasting and Projects).
  • Finance staff – may have access to finance modules (for example, Finance and Payroll), and limited or no access to project setup.

This approach reduces clutter for users and supports segregation of duties, while still allowing flexible access where required.

Jobpac licensing models

Named User licences

  • Each licence is tied to a specific USERID.
  • You can reassign licences when people join or leave by disabling old USERIDs and creating new ones.
  • The total number of active USERIDs cannot exceed your agreed licence count.

Putting it together

When you set up Jobpac for your organisation, you combine:

  • USERIDs and security levels – to identify users and control what they can see.
  • Menu structures – to group modules and options by role.
  • Licensing model – to stay within your Named User

Designing menus and security with roles in mind makes Jobpac easier to use day to day, while also supporting auditability and compliance with your licence agreement.
