Setting up a new Fiscal Year in Vista

Open new batches and record transactions or budgets for the year ahead.

Overview

A new fiscal year must be created in General Ledger for each new GL year. This is an accounting control feature that lets you open new batches and record transactions or budgets in the new year.

Where: General Ledger → Programs → GL Fiscal Years

1 – Set the fiscal year end month

Specify the month on which the fiscal year ends.

2 – Set the fiscal year start month

Specify the month in which the fiscal year begins. Fiscal years are not allowed to overlap.

3 – Enter the fiscal year

Enter a unique year to be used as the fiscal year for Management Reporter, in YYYY format.

Notes

You can continue posting in the prior year until that month has been closed. Once you've created budgets or beginning balances in the new year, you won't be able to delete the fiscal year. Need a short fiscal year instead? See How to set up a short Fiscal Year in Vista.
